Leon Yanez was born in Venezuela in 1991 and moved to the Netherlands in 2000, carrying with him a love for stories, imagination, and the kind of magic that makes ordinary worlds feel extraordinary. From an early age, he was drawn to fantasy: ancient powers, hidden realms, impossible choices, and characters who must discover who they truly are when the world around them begins to change.
That passion eventually led him to create the epic fantasy world of the Scarred Realms Series, a universe shaped by magic, conflict, ancient history, and the scars left behind by those who came before. His stories blend sweeping fantasy adventure with emotional character journeys, exploring themes of courage, loyalty, identity, sacrifice, and the strength found in unlikely heroes.
Leon’s fascination with languages also plays an important role in his writing. His love for learning multiple languages inspired him to create his own fantasy language within his books, adding depth, culture, and history to the worlds he builds. For him, language is more than a tool for communication; it is a way to reveal a people’s past, beliefs, traditions, and connection to magic.
When he is not writing, Leon can often be found out in the world with his two dog sidekicks, who are fully convinced they are much larger than they actually are. He also spends much of his time running after his wife and two daughters, who keep him young, challenge him daily, and inspire many of the strong female characters who appear throughout his stories.
Through his books, Leon hopes to give readers the same feeling that fantasy has always given him: the sense that beyond the visible world, there may be something vast, dangerous, beautiful, and magical waiting to be discovered.
